Summer Sounds at Skansie is a free outdoor concert series presented every summer on Tuesday nights at the beautiful waterfront Skansie Brothers Park. Presented by the City of Gig Harbor, Summer Sounds at Skansie is a very popular place for neighbors and visitors to come together with a picnic and your lawn chair and enjoy the sounds and the view of the sound.
The Gig Harbor and surrounding area are home to a large variety of talented musicians, visiting professional groups and wonderful local musical performing groups. Through out the year on any given weekend and often during the week a performance is available that is often free or by donation or ticket.
Music By the Bay - through the fall and winter the wonderful Chapel on Ech oBay is home to this series of professional performances from Baroque to Celtic. Intimate concerts, backset by a view of the Olympics and Hales Passage are performed in the historic chapel located about ten minutes from downtown Gig Harbor.
Gig Harbor Peninsula Civic Orchestra formed in 2004 and made up of local musicians performs a variety of concerts several times a year.
The Peninsula United Music Association has provided the community for many years a four concert classical chamber music series and brings outstanding performers from around the Northwest to local audiences. Concerts are held at the acoustiacally superb Agnus Dei Lutheran Church on Peacock Hill Avenue.
Key Singers is a local group of residents who love to sing. Each May the Key Singers present their spring concert. (253) 884-5615
The Gig Harbor Peninsula Symphony Orchestra began in 2005 to fill a void in GigHarbor for a diverse and sophisticated orchestra program. The GHPSO has multiple performances through out the year.
The Peninsula Youth Orchstra is comprised of about 100 local children and teens who love music. Through out the year they perform at various events and locations.
The Peninsula Community Chorus provides music at many events and locations through out the year and is made up of local singers who can carry a tune.
The Gig Harbor Folk Festival is held annually over Labor Day weekend and brings a contingent of well known folk artists and song writers to Gig Harbor for a free event. www.gigharborfolkfestival.com
