Shayne Chandler, owner of
Plant LLC in Kingston, WA, Saturday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. at
Sehmel Homestead Park will speak on "Mixed Greens - Better gardening through Foliage: The intentional design of foliar texture and color extends the aesthetic well beyond summer, providing a garden that can be enjoyed year-round."
Shayne
Chandler has enjoyed success as a landscape designer in the Pacific
Northwest for over 25 years. Having earned his degree in fine arts from
Art Center in Pasadena, CA, he sought to combine his visual and
conceptual art skills with his lifelong love of plants, eventually
building a thriving career in horticulture. In addition to a large,
three-acre personal garden, Shayne has built (and maintains) multiple
residential gardens, several of which have been featured on both the
Garden Conservancy and the Bainbridge in Bloom tours. In addition, he
has had gardens featured in local and national press, including The
Seattle Times’ Pacific Magazine and Martha Stewart’s blog.
Shayne
is also an avid plant collector, having traveled with horticulturalist
Dan Hinkley, and independently, to Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Ecuador, and
Guatemala.
